Lg. Portas Sol. This is a beautiful place to stop and enjoy the view. It is in the beginning of Alfama and you can head down in the direction of the river and get lost in Alfama's streets.
Miradouro Sta. Luzia. Another nice spot to enjoy the view... just a dash from the last stop!

R. S. Bento / Cç. Estrela. This is where portuguese politicians hang around... The S. Bento street is full of old antique stores, not very cheap, but neat to view. In the end of this street, very near the Assembleia da Republica, you will find "Vidros da Marinha Grande". This is a store selling glass work. It has very nice stuff inside!

New York Times Suggestions
This is what they are saying about Lisbon....
"Lisbon is flaunting its playful side these days, from edgy design shops to chic late-night lounges that have turned this old port city into a youthful place to party. But the Portuguese capital hasn’t turned its back on its revered traditions. Built on seven hills along the Tagus River and blessed with sunshine, Lisbon remains a place for idle strolling, ecclesiastical stirrings and Old World splendors. Around every corner are unpretentious buildings with worn and graffiti-scarred tile facades that still dazzle. You’ll leave longing to return, and who knows, maybe even singing with joy."
